What was the biggest takeaway or lesson learned from Lead Virginia that continues to stick with you today? 
My biggest takeaway was realizing the on-going need to bridge the gap between Virginia’s communities east of Richmond with the communities west of Richmond. By bringing these areas together, each community has a better understanding of the other and the value that each has to offer. read more>

How has your Lead Virginia experience influenced or shaped you as a leader?
Lead Virginia is the entity that brought the Commonwealth into clarity for me; a very valuable benefit that still pays dividends today; specifically in relation to my current economic development work in the Northern Neck. While the Northern Neck is an idyllic setting to live, work, play or retire, as my class and I learned through Lead Virginia, meaningful economic development measures and accomplishments are critical elements for continued success, now more than ever.

What is new and exciting with you now or since your LEAD VIRGINIA class year?

Since graduating from the inaugural class of LEAD VIRGINIA in 2005 I have made a career change. Formerly executive director of the United Way, I am now executive director of Piedmont Arts Association in Martinsville. This has been a very exciting change for me.
