I appreciated the opportunity to meet fellow participants from multiple sectors and regions of Virginia and to learn different perspectives on the complexities of our communities’ challenges and solutions in health, education and the economy. I loved the chance to have honest conversations about the diversity of needs and opportunities in Virginia and to think more comprehensively about our obligations and barriers to cooperate on a statewide basis. read more>

Pick up the phone. Make the call. Take the meeting. Get out of the office. Go and see. Building social capital means sharing the wisdom, knowledge and network we have while appreciating what others share with us. Whether it’s a vineyard in far southwest Virginia or a microchip maker outside of DC, people are people. If we look, we can find more similarities than differences. read more>
